What a beautiful play. I was reading the Herald's review of this show in the paper this morning (Monday) and I totally agree - it's so stunning. The movement and the language presented on stage wraps this heartfelt and lovely story together. It's such a refreshing piece of theatre - and the performances are amazing. I think Ms. Yamamoto should be seen at ATP more often. Bravo for bringing her here!
I was astonished by how well the TWO characters managed to hold it all together. I had no idea that it was going to be two of them. The young girl managed to play 4 or 5 different characters and kept the story flowing as she transitioned between parts, only leaving the stage once. That respect also goes towards the father who play a few different roles, and was a wonderful musician. I believe with the space, props and effects they had to work with, they managed to do an immaculate job. All of the above do help out in a play but the primary catch is the story line and the acting. I found it a fun journey of humor and sadness though the live of the characters. I also noticed no matter what culture, we all do things out of sheer desperation for something, or the the loss of something. When I walked out of the theater I had a big smile on my face, I was really impressed by this show
