ATP Receives 15 Betty Mitchell Award Nominations!

ATP congratulates the nominees of fifteen Betty Mitchell Awards, honouring distinction in Calgary’s professional theatre community.

The Drowning Girls by Daniela Vlaskalic, Beth Graham and Charlie Tomlinson and Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire led the ATP contingent with four nominations each, followed by three nominations for Half Life by John Mighton and two nominations each for that elusive spark by Janet Munsil and August, An Afternoon in the Country by Jean-Marc Dalpé, translated by Maureen Labonté. ATP dominated the category of Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role, receiving three of the five nominations. Full list of nominations below:

  • Vanessa Holmes – that elusive spark by Janet Munsil
  • Nicola Lipman – Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire
  • Kate Newby – August, an Afternoon in the Country by Jean-Marc Dalpé, translated by Maureen Labonté

Outstanding Lighting Design

  • Narda McCarroll – The Drowning Girls by Daniela Vlaskalic, Beth Graham and Charlie Tomlinson

Outstanding Set Design

  • Scott Reid – Half Life by John Mighton

Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role

  • Grant Reddick – Half Life by John Mighton

Outstanding New Play

  • Jean-Marc Dalpé, translated by Maureen Labonté – August, an Afternoon in the Country
  • Daniela Vlaskalic, Beth Graham and Charlie Tomlinson – The Drowning Girls

Outstanding Direction

  • Glenda Stirling – Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire
  • Charlie Tomlinson – The Drowning Girls by Daniela Vlaskalic, Beth Graham and Charlie Tomlinson

Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Drama

  • Shirley Broderick – Half Life by John Mighton

Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Drama
