The 26^th Annual Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays (2011-2012 Season)

After two months of intense rehearsal and an exciting five weeks introducing new plays to our audience we are all a bit dazed and dazzled by the experience of putting together the 26th annual Enbridge playRites Festival.  While those four world premiere productions were running we also did a few workshops of some even newer plays and hosted a very energetic group of emerging artists at our Raucous Caucus: Emerging Artists Assembly.  And we managed to increase our attendance at the Festival this year! 

The Enbridge playRites Festival is always as grand an adventure as one might expect given that it is a Festival all about the creation of new things.  And we continue to celebrate new work right until the very end with our Blitz Weekend event which gathered together our audience here in Calgary with theatre makers and decision makers from across Canada and internationally.   We welcomed guests who crossed the border to see our work, from SoHo Rep in New York City, Studio Theatre in Washington, DC and the Wilma Theatre in Philadelphia. They joined guests from across Canada in a conversation about new Canadian work. 

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Festival.  These new plays don’t really discover themselves until they meet an audience like you.
